Modelling of forthcoming climate variabilities at the regional scale is in its early days, though it is showing the pace and level of change are gaining momentum with potential effects on the different sector of the state.
Now a day’s many initiatives are underway in the state to address the challenges due to climate variability. The state Kerala is highly vulnerable to climate change impacts though we lack sufficient sectoral specific data at regional scale. By these circumstances, the climate change projections of the state are uncertain. To overcome the issue, it is necessary to formulate baseline reports on climate change in key sectors.
The baseline reports will be prepared for the sectors Agriculture, Animal husbandry, Fisheries and coastal system, Forest, Biodiversity, Water resources, Health and sanitation, Energy, Urban front and transport and Tourism, Culture & Heritage. The baseline report will act as a tool for sustainable climate resilient progress strategy and low carbon development goals of the state
