The Institute for Climate Change Studies (ICCS) is an autonomous research institution under the Department of Environment, Government of Kerala. ICCS has been registered as per Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act-12 of 1955 (SL No. KTM/TC/138/2014 dated 1-3-2014), and Notification GO No (MS) No 03/ 2014 dated 21-3-2014 as an Autonomous R&D Centre.

Dr. G. K. Patra, Director of CSIR–Fourth Paradigm Institute (CSIR-4PI), visited ICCS on 6 March 2026.

Dr. Aiswarya K. P., Junior Scientist, ICCS, delivered a lecture and conducted a hands-on training session on “Parsimonious Hydrological Modelling: Streamflow Simulation using GR4J” at KSCSTE–CWRDM.

Dr. Sinan Nizar, Junior Scientist, ICCS, delivered a talk on World Wildlife Day at IIMC.

ICCS has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with INCOIS on 09 February 2026 to collaborate in key areas, including joint ocean–atmospheric observations and research & development activities

Dr. C. C. Bajish, Senior Scientist, ICCS, delivered an invited talk at the International Conference on Climate Change Impacts on Coastal Environments, held at Bolgatty Palace, Kochi, on 3rd & 4th February 2026.

NERSC delegates—Dr. Lasse H. Pettersson (Executive Advisor and Senior Researcher, NERSC), Dr. Roshin P. Raj (NERSC) and Dr. K. Ajith Joseph (Principal Scientist and Executive Director, Nansen Environmental Research Centre–India, NERCI)—visited ICCS on 5 February 2026. As part of the visit, an engaging session was delivered by Dr. Roshin P. Raj (NERSC) on the topic “An overview of different initiatives on sea level and eddies”.

Consultative Workshop on SDG 14 🌊 — Kerala stakeholders discussed strategies to protect marine and coastal ecosystems on 28 January 2026 at SP Grand Days, Thiruvananthapuram.

The 38th Kerala Science Congress, organized by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment, has released the Kerala Climate Statement 2025, prepared by ICCS.

The panel discussion “Our Oceans, Our Future – Climate Change and the Blue Economy of Kerala” was successfully conducted as part of the 38th Kerala Science Congress at the National Science Expo, St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Kochi, Ernakulam.

Dr. Jose George, RA II, Institute for Climate Change Studies (ICCS), won the Best Oral Presentation Award in Environmental Science at the 38th Kerala Science Congress.

Dr. Suneeth K. V., PS III, Institute for Climate Change Studies (ICCS), won the Best Poster Presentation Award at the 38th Kerala Science Congress.

Happy to inform that ICCS received the Best Emerging Institution Award, which was announced in the presence of Shri Pinarayi Vijayan, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala, and conferred by Shri P. Rajeeve, Hon’ble Minister for Law, Industries and Coir, Government of Kerala, during the inaugural ceremony of the 38th Kerala Science Congress held at St. Albert’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam.

The first Research Council Meeting of KSCSTE–Institute for Climate Change Studies was held on 23 January 2026.

Science Awareness and Paper Bag Making Program was conducted as an initiative of the 38th Kerala Science Congress at NSS UP School, Thrikkothamangalam, on 13 January 2026.

R & D CENTRES OF KSCSTE
